Science and Culture are tightly interconnected and closely interacting; hence the School Program includes a visit to the most sacred cultural place of Athens, Acropolis and the Temple of Parthenon, dedicated to Athena. Her name is a composite of the words "mind" (nous=reasoning) and morality (ethos). She was the goddess of wisdom, civilization, strength, strategy, crafts, justice, warfare, skill, and general patron of civilized urban life. Athenians chose her as their patron, after accepting her gift of the first domesticated olive tree. In her honor, they named their city after her and built the Parthenon on the Acropolis.

As the goddess of philosophy, during the Golden Age of Athens (5th century BCE) she received one more attribute, Athena Ergani. This epithet denotes that she protected industriousness and the fusion of manual and mental labor, and all works which humans undertake in order to assist themselves and others, because knowledge is not an end in itself.
